Hi GP,
----FISH??----
Well, any way I will take this opportunity to talk about the Ignition timing.
My 1999 Model Brochure says that both the 800 and 1400 Intruders have; COMPUTER-CONTROLLED DIGITAL IGNITION! In fact, the; Intruder 1500 LC, Intruder 1400, Intruder 800, Marauder 800 and the GZ250 all have a DIGITAL TRANSISTORIZED IGNITION!
The Savage does not have a DIGITAL TRANSISTORIZED ignition. It has a transistorized ignition, but not digital. So, I guess that makes it the same as a COMMON LAWN MOWER ignition.
It consists of a; "signal generator", (raised tab on the alternator rotor) a "pickup coil," an "ignitor unit," (transistor circuit) a "high voltage coil" and a "spark plug." There are no breaker points, because the transistor makes and breaks the electricity to the high voltage coil. Unfortionately there is no advance curve!!!!!!!! Same as a COMMON LAWN MOWER ignition.
This makes me think, that the only way for one to control the ignition timing is to use different octane fuel. Low octane for high altitude and High octane for sea level. What about timing changes for coasting vs. hill climbing????
This is a very poor class-act for a high performance engine (FIXED TIMING). Back to my original perception of the Savage: "CHITTY-CHITTY-BANG-BANG!"
